Why people use it

    The meetup stops being a maybe. You are less likely to lose an afternoon waiting for someone who never comes.

    If they cancel, you usually hear sooner.

    Often before the 36-hour mark. Inside 36 hours, you can accept a share of their locked-in amount.

  • A name people trust.

    Afterward, you rate each other.

    A strong rating makes the next person more willing to meet you, sometimes for a smaller locked-in amount.

How a Handshake works

    Create it.

    Item, place, time, and the same locked-in amount for both of you.

    They accept.

    Stripe holds both amounts. The money is set aside, not spent.

  3. 3

    Tap I’m Here.

    You both arrive on time. Your phone confirms you are actually there.

  4. 4

    It comes back.

    You each get your amount back, then rate the other person.

The $3 fee is paid only by the person who creates the Handshake, and only after the other person accepts. Once it is accepted, the $3 is not refunded.

Alice sends it. David accepts. They meet, tap I’m Here, and each $25 returns.

Less notice. More they can accept.

If someone cancels, this is the share of their $25 the other person can accept.

  • 0% - $0.00 CAD

    More than 36 hours before meetup

  • 50% - $12.50 CAD

    24 to 36 hours

  • 75% - $18.75 CAD

    8 to 24 hours

  • 100% - $25.00 CAD

    Under 8 hours

If only one person shows, that person can accept the other’s locked-in amount, or give it back. If neither shows, both amounts are returned.

Send it before they join.

Agree on the place, then send the Handshake to their email or phone. When they sign up, it is already on their home page.
